Richard E. Moore, Ph.D.
Dr. Moore has been with Richland District One since first grade. He attended Withers Elementary, Meadowfield, Keenan Jr. High and graduated from C. A. Johnson High School in 1973. Dr. Moore has a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education, a Master’s degree in educational administration and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in early childhood education. He taught first and fourth grades at A. C. Moore Elementary and was lead teacher for the A.C. Moore community education program for two years. One summer he was director of the Hand Middle School community education program. He served as an administrative intern at Virginia Pack Elementary and then went to Brennen Elementary School as principal in 1981. Dr. Moore served as principal at Brennen for 15 years. He then went to the Human Resource Services division in the district and served as the elementary coordinator there for five years before going to Logan Elementary as principal from 2001 until 2015, when he retired. Since his retirement, he has stayed busy working with student teachers at the University of South Carolina, serving on the Board of Koinonia of Columbia and working with their summer and afterschool programs.

Dr. Moore is married to the former Carolyn Beasley, an Eau Claire High School graduate who finished a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of South Carolina. She also worked at Asbury pre-school and at Meadowfield Elementary for 21 years in kindergarten. Richard and Carolyn have four sons, three “daughters-in-love”, and eight beautiful grandchildren, one who just graduated from Dreher High School and seven others currently enrolled in five different Richland One schools from second to 10th grades. He is a member at Eau Claire Baptist Church where he works with children and youth, teaches Sunday school, serves as a deacon and as church clerk, and sings in the choir. He is also a member of the Eau Claire Baptist Mens Quartet. This group sings in the church and has performed at many community functions over the years.
Dr. Moore loves doing things with his family, singing and reading. He also enjoys writing, going to the movies and working in his yard.
